Holes & Pars at Golf Te Puke

The Golf Te Puke golf course has a par of 72 and creates a challenge for all levels of golfer. The Te Puke golf course features one of the longest courses, at 6600m, through to a more sedate 5250m on full-irrigated fairways.

Our Bay of Plenty golf club offers a course where accuracy and (on occasions) length are important. The narrow fairways put a premium of placing your shots in locations away from the lush rough. Depending upon the season, the rough can be fast growing and it is a certain way to lose shots if you are wayward. If the long course tempts you, sign up for the Te Puke golf club Tiger Tees tournament, which is usually held in late June or early July each year.

Hole 1
Hole 1 Par 5 Stroke
Yellow 446m 11
White 458m 15
Blue 471m
Black 517m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This hole is a straight forward par 5 with a fairway sloping left to right, to a water hazard in the form of a pond that may catch the long hitter. Essential to keep left for the first and second shots. The green slopes from back to front after a slight dogleg.

Hole 2
Hole 2 Par 3 Stroke
Yellow 98m 17
White 133m 17
Blue 156m
Black 180m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a short par 3 surrounded by shallow bunkers and framed by Totara trees either side. It is essential to watch the wind direction to land on a relatively flat green.

Hole 3
Hole 3 Par 4 Stroke
Yellow 342m 1
White 355m 7
Blue 388m
Black 420m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a long par 4 with a dogleg to the left. It is the women’s no1 stroke hole. Distance and accuracy with the drive is key for an easy second shot, to an elevated and sloping back to front green.

Hole 4
Hole 4 Par 3 Stroke
Yellow 146m 15
White 160m 13
Blue 176m
Black 192m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a mid length par 3 that is guarded by a pot bunker to the front left. A miss to the right or short is the best option here.

Hole 5
Hole 5 Par 4 Stroke
Yellow 296m 5
White 336m 9
Blue 346m
Black 372m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a mid length par 4. A drive to the centre of the fairway is essential for an easy second – leave the driver in the bag.

Hole 6
Hole 6 Par 5 Stroke
Yellow 298m 3
White 314m 1
Blue 335m
Black 371m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a mid length par 4 that is the number one stroke hole for men. Again a drive down the middle is required as there are trees to the left and OB to the right. This leaves you with a clear shot to the back to front sloping green, guarded by a large tree to the left and a bunker short of the green to the right.

Hole 7

Hole 7 Par 4 Stroke
Yellow 297m 7
White 339m 5
Blue 339m
Black 355m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: A short drive to the plateau at the right hand dogleg leaves a short-ish iron to a raised green protected by bunkers, to the front left and right. Don't go near the mounds at the rear.

Hole 8
Hole 8 Par 4 Stroke
Yellow 285m 9
White 308m 11
Blue 338m
Black 368m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a short par 4 with a slight dogleg to the left. A second shot over a gully to a back to front sloping green makes club selection important.

Hole 9
Hole 9 Par 5 Stroke
Yellow 409m 13
White 458m 3
Blue 476m
Black 535m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a long par 5 that requires a drive left of centre to give a good line to the green which is protected by trees and a bunker short to the right, two bunkers on the front left with a sloping green to the front.

Total Hole 1 – 9

Black 3310m

Hole 10
Hole 10 Par 5 Stroke
Yellow 454m 2
White 461m 12
Blue 461m
Black 475m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a long and tight par 5. To play this hole best, you need to keep your drive in the middle of a sloping right to left fairway and your second to the right side of the fairway for an easy approach to a green protected by a bunker to the right.

Hole 11
Hole 11 Par 4 Stroke
Yellow 306m 6
White 349m 2
Blue 379m
Black 395m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a long straight par 4 guarded by a fairway bunker and trees to the right and more trees to the left, encroaching into the fairway. Not a driver hole for long hitters as the fairway narrows. The green has bunkers to the left and right.

Hole 12
Hole 12 Par 3 Stroke
Yellow 130m 18
White 148m 18
Blue 156m
Black 164m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a mid length par 3 that requires a straight forward shot to a narrow and shaped green. Distance control is a must for a 2 putt.
Hole 13
Hole 13 Par 4 Stroke
Yellow 311m 4
White 352m 4
Blue 388m
Black 404m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a long par 4 with a dogleg right. A brave drive over the right hand dogleg will give you an easier approach shot to the green that has a bunker to the front left and a valley around the rest that makes for an interesting chip.

Hole 14 Par 4 Stroke
Yellow 319m 12
White 325m 14
Blue 355m
Black 385m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a mid length par 4 with a dogleg left. Keeping out of the front right bunker gives you a good chance to get a shot or 2 back. Short is better than long.

Hole 15
Hole 15 Par 5 Stroke
Yellow 315m 8
White 324m 10
Blue 358m
Black 373m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is the Pro's signature hole for the course. A tough and straight tee shot gives you a challenging but less scary second shot into a slightly elevated green. A miss left or short right can put you in one of four-pot bunkers and right down a slope leaves you a tough up and down.

Hole 16
Hole 16 Par 5 Stroke
Yellow 270m 10
White 277m 8
Blue 318m
Black 363m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a short par 4 with risk and reward. A drive well left of centre avoids the slope towards out of bounds. Make sure the second shot gives you an uphill putt on this severely sloping green. A pot bunker guards the centre of the green.

Hole 17
Hole 17 Par 3 Stroke
Yellow 129m 16
White 148m 16
Blue 170m
Black 170m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a mid length par 3 across a gully to an elevated green A shot slightly to the left is safe from a bunker on the right.

Hole 18
Hole 18 Par 5 Stroke
Yellow 400m 14
White 471m 6
Blue 487m
Black 499m

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: This is a mid length par 5. A good finishing hole past a pond if you are searching for a birdie. Watch anything moving to the right as you could get wet or go into bunkers.

Hole 19

Scott Pickett's Pro Tip: Best place of all… where pars become birdies, the drinks are very refreshing and the food complements a great game of golf at the Sand Trappers Cafe! BUT be careful and have a sober driver.
